What We Think

With a selection of body styles, the Kia Forte has a little something for everyone, but we're looking forward to the full redesign next year.

The 2012 Kia Forte comes in coupe, sedan and hatchback trims. Two engines are available. The base is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers 156 hp and returns 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The optional 2.4-liter produces 173 hp and returns 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Manual transmissions are standard; automatics are optional.

Interior volume is up in the five-door, as is cargo space. A sunroof is optional. The Technology package has navigation, automatic temperature control, push-button start, fog lamps, auto headlights and chrome exterior trim.
