All convertible 2011 Porsche Boxsters are rear-wheel drive and come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Seven-speed dual-clutch automated manuals are optional. Standard Boxsters are powered by a 2.9-liter, six-cylinder engine delivering 255 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. Upgraded S models use a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine to make 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque.
The top-of-the-line Spyder has a different body and top setup, and it gets 320 hp from the 3.4-liter engine. Zero-to-60-mph times range from 5.6 seconds in the standard Porsche Boxster to 4.6 seconds in the Spyder with a dual-clutch transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 22 mpg in mixed driving.
